Tu’er Ye’s Blessing
As a traditional culture,
with the changes of the times, many inheritances have been forgotten by people.
However,
Throughout the development of the world, history has always been the foundation for the future.
In China, a character named Tu’er Ye is on the verge of being discontinued as an intangible cultural heritage
Now, there is only one main inheritor left in Beijing
Luckily, I got a chance to visit the main inheritor’s studio and learn more about the story of Tu’er Ye
Story of Tu’er Ye
As a character in old Beijing clay sculptures, Tu’er Ye is the symbol of the Jade Rabbit in the moon palace responsible for making medicine in traditional Chinese folklore. According to legend, Jade Rabbit’s owner called ‘Chang e’ sent her to rescue people during a severe pandemic.
